Chuuk (Truk Lagoon)


Departing Guam, Chuuk is the first FSM (Federated States of Micronesia) that you arrive on.  One of the biggest lagoons in the world. If you do not know Chuuk’s history, this is a good time to Google it for some heavy reading!   There are more shipwrecks in this lagoon than any other place in the world.  Chuuk diving is rated one of the world’s best dive locations.  It is on every die hard divers Bucket List.  Population of approximately 16,000 with all outer island of Chuuk State.


What is there to do there?
Eat, sleep and dive.


Sites to see:
Mt. Tonaachaw/ Wichon Falls, Chuuk Church, Xavier High School and Nefo Cave.  Tonoas or Dubion Island, Fefan island, Eten Island, Picnic Island and Ant Atoll, Shark Island.

 

Dive Sites:
Shinkoku Maru, Fijikawa Maru, San Francisco Maru, Sankisan Maru, Yamagiri Maru, Susuki Subchaser, Heian Maru, Ant Atoll, Shark Island and many many more wrecks.

The capital of the FSM.  Pohnpei is known for its mystery; rainforests, tropical mountains, waterfalls, coastal mangroves and its island drink Sakau. Population is approximately 34,000 Pohnpeians.

 

What is there to do?
Hike, scuba dive, snorkel with Manta Rays, kayak the mangroves, rainforest hikes, waterfall swimming, ancient ruins exploring, pepper farm,  handicraft village and more.

Kosrae


Kosrae is an island with lush tropical rainforests like no other island.  They are considered the jewel of Micronesia.  Turquoise and tranquil seas, white sandy beaches and year round friendly people are sure to be seen in Kosrae.  Naturalists will marvel at the diverse flora and fauna. Kosrae has three distinct geographic features: jungle, mountains and mangroves forests.  Mountains are steep with the Sleeping Lady and rise to over 2000 feet above sea level.


People:  
Kosraean are friendly and happy to meet visitors to showcase their island and language.  Many women do light farming while men are out fishing daily.  Church service is a large part of the community activities, cultural and social events.
